About Mountain Road Music

MRM was founded in 2015 by multi-instrumentalist, Shea Ellis. Having taught guitar, banjo, bass guitar, mandolin & ukulele to well over 200 students since 2010, Shea offers customized music lessons on the Seacoast at his studio in Cape Neddick, ME. He believes that encouraging and developing a students individual style leads to making music a life long passion. Playing an instrument takes time, dedication, and practice, but learning to play should always be fun!

"I strive to make every lesson unique to the player, with an emphasis on the four foundations of great musicians: rhythm, tone, phrasing, and technique. My goal as an instructor is to help my students fall in love with music and grow into confident performers."

Shea's musical endeavors have led him to study numerous  styles: rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass, classical, and fusion. He studied guitar under Fred Zinkgraf, and Maine blues master, Dan Hudson, and In 2008 he graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with BA in History & Music. While in High School Shea was selected to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City as part of the 2004 National High School Carnegie Chorus. His original music has been aired on radio stations throughout the US, such as 92.5 The River, Boston, and he has appeared on stage across the country, including four performances during the 2013 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX.
